This article is so timely, I have had this discussion w/ one buyer and one seller whose home I have listed.  Home odors are such a put off to potential buyers.  Most of the time the seller is completely oblivious to the smell.  After reading this article by John Adams, I even found out that this has a name called “olfactory fatigue”.  You may want to skim through this article for some helpful advise to eliminate household odors.  My favorite that I always suggest is Fabuloso, it is found at all grocery stores and discount stores for around $3.  You can wash your floors, toilets, counter-tops etc. with it and it has a long lasting clean scent.  Air fresheners also work well, I like the Bath & Body Works kind.  Just make sure you choose a light scent that is timely for the season.

Also a big hit is homemade baked goods in the oven during a showing or right before.  Chocolate Chip cookies, fresh baked breads or anything with cinnamon is sure to take any focus away from unpleasant aromas.  As John says and is very true…The nose knows!!
